What do we mean by Total MVHR?
With numerous performance-related and practical factors to consider, expert guidance is essential. At Ubbink, our Total MVHR approach covers everything—from the initial consultation and bespoke system design to precise costing, supply of all components, professional installation, and final system commissioning. We are the only UK supplier to provide fully integrated MVHR solutions using exclusively our own in-house manufactured components—from the unit itself to all ductwork and even ceiling terminals.

Designing a smart system
Our experienced design team ensures every critical factor is considered to create a solution tailored to your home and lifestyle. One key aspect is selecting the right unit size—undersized MVHR units often overwork, leading to excessive noise and reduced efficiency. We carefully match the unit to your property to ensure optimal performance, delivering a complete ventilation solution.
A well-designed MVHR system also relies on an efficient ductwork layout. Our team designs precise ductwork runs using materials suited to each location within your property. Our high-quality ductwork is engineered for minimal air resistance and superior airtightness, ensuring the system operates efficiently and effectively.
For an MVHR system to function correctly, it must be balanced—meaning the volume of extracted air must equal the volume of supplied air. We calculate and establish the required airflow rates for your property, ensuring a perfectly tuned system for maximum comfort and performance.
Choosing the right MVHR
Ubbink MVHR units are available in various sizes and airflow capacities to suit all residential applications. They come in both vertical and horizontal configurations, allowing for flexible installation. The available space, as well as the number and type of rooms in your home, will determine the most suitable unit. Our expert designers ensure that each system is correctly sized for optimal efficiency with minimal effort. With over 90% heat recovery, our units significantly reduce your home's energy demand.
Finalising the details of your system design
Once the initial design is complete, we provide a detailed 3D CAD model featuring exploded views of your property. This is accompanied by a full breakdown of all required components, including pre-calculated extract and supply airflow rates, ensuring complete transparency and accuracy.
At this stage, we introduce you to one of our Key Account Managers, who will support you with:
- Best pricing tailored to your project
- Delivery options and estimated timescales
- Project updates and flexibility for design changes
We understand that projects evolve, and we are fully adaptable to any modifications you may need. Our Northampton-based team, with over 15 years of experience in ventilation systems, provides honest, unbiased advice to help you make the best decision.
Beyond offering high-quality MVHR solutions, we pride ourselves on our personalised service, setting us apart from the competition. From your first inquiry to final installation, we are committed to providing a seamless Total MVHR experience—supporting you at every step.

Assembling your system
Once your design and bill of materials have been finalised and you’ve accepted our quotation, we will carefully prepare your order in our warehouse for prompt delivery.
Unlike our competitors, every MVHR system component we use is manufactured in-house, under strict quality control standards. This ensures that each part is designed to work seamlessly as part of a fully integrated system, delivering optimal performance and long-term reliability.
We maintain comprehensive stock of all key system components at our Northampton headquarters. If any items are temporarily unavailable, we can quickly source them from our European manufacturing facility, ensuring minimal delays and a smooth delivery process.

Delivering and installation
Once your order has been processed, picked, and packed, it will be prepared at our Northampton warehouse for delivery on the agreed date.
For installation, we can arrange for a qualified expert to fit your system using the agreed design diagrams. Installation times vary depending on system size, complexity, and property layout. Alternatively, if you're practically minded, you may choose to install the system yourself by following our detailed installation guidelines, with specialist support available if needed.
System commissioning
Regardless of the installation method, your MVHR system must be commissioned to ensure safe, balanced, and energy-efficient operation.
- All readings must be taken, documented, and signed off by a qualified specialist.
- The commissioning engineer must be fully trained and knowledgeable about all legal requirements.
- A properly balanced system ensures the incoming and outgoing air volumes are equal, preventing performance issues.
To achieve this, the commissioning engineer will use an anemometer to measure and adjust airflows and system pressure. Once complete, all data is compiled into a commissioning sheet and submitted to building control within five days.
Every day, clean fresh air
Your Ubbink MVHR unit continuously delivers clean, filtered air into your home while recovering over 90% of heat, helping to reduce energy consumption. Designed for years of reliable, hassle-free operation, it requires only a simple filter change every six months to maintain peak performance.
Our advanced filtration system removes pollutants and harmful particles, ensuring a healthier indoor environment. But the benefits go beyond just fresh air:
- No need to open windows – Keep out fumes, allergens, and outdoor pollutants
- Enhanced security – No open windows means greater safety
- No bathroom or kitchen fans required – Integrated extraction keeps moisture and odors at bay
- No need for window trickle vents – Reducing heat loss and improving insulation
- Better soundproofing – A well-sealed home means less external noise
- Lower energy bills – Greater efficiency means reduced heating costs
Breathe easier with Total MVHR—providing fresh, filtered air with maximum comfort and efficiency.

How does it work?
Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) is designed to provide a constant supply of fresh, filtered air while minimising heat loss in your home.
Our MVHR units work by extracting warm, stale air from moisture-prone areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. This extracted air contains a mix of heat, moisture, and odors, which passes through a high-performance heat exchanger.
- What stays? – The heat is recovered and transferred to the incoming fresh air.
- What goes? – Moisture and odors are removed and expelled outside.
- What’s delivered? – The incoming cold air absorbs the retained heat, is filtered for dust and pollutants, and then circulated into your living spaces for a comfortable, healthy indoor environment.
With stricter building regulations requiring improved insulation and airtightness, MVHR is quickly becoming the preferred ventilation solution, replacing outdated bathroom and kitchen fans.
